Description

On my last account, I had a major problem with this kind of thing.
I would have, say, 100 messages to sort through, and to get to anything IMPORTANT, I'd have to dig through about 20 "thank-you" messages.
Now, I got complaints about a similar, but b%t@#ier stamp on a previous account. I hope this one is a lot nicer, with an explanation of my reluctance to have these comments instead of a rant. :p

K, the most prominent question in most peoples' minds is probably Why fav so much? This is bound to happen if you fav.
I....am a lover of many things, including music and, quite obviously, art. :> If I see a piece of art I particularly like, I fav it. Simple. Sometimes I'll leave a comment, or a critique, but most times I just go hunting for more beautiful art to make me happy. I do this also because favorites, personally, make me feel special, so in a way I hope to pass along that special feeling by faving. Am I making any sense? ^^;
Why a stamp?
Because I can put it on the top of my page and more people will see it. Not everyone will, you can't stop the rain from falling, but it's my umbrella to keep me mostly dry. I tried putting it in my dA ID description for awhile, but there was no change in favcomment frequency. :B
Why are you so fussed?
(yes, I am asking myself questions. No, I don't have multiple personality disorder. )
I am a tidy person at heart at everything except my room. I want to keep my front page fairly neat and I think "thank-you" comments clutter up the place. Another reason is that, well, it creates a mess of my inbox, to the point where it just scares me away from the inbox and messages never get answered at all. This also makes me feel guilty, because I met several good dA friends through "thank-you" comments, so I'm missing out on some of those; but my mental health comes first, so leaving my inbox in a fairly orderly fashion with a small number REALLY helps, plus if there's no thank-you to answer, I don't feel guilty about definitely missing out on a friendship opportunity.
Also I don't find them at all important, or very grateful to the favoriter. Anyone can just go "hey thanks" but....would you mind much looking at MY stuff, maybe favoriting or critiquing? I scratch your back, you scratch mine sort of thing?
Is this the view of every anti-fav deviant?
of course not. :B Some people are just jerks and don't want people not friends of them posting all over their page.

Any other questions, go right ahead and ask, I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. :)

Oh, I suppose I should explain my policy?
Since this account is fairly new, when I fully transfer all activity to this one, I will start hiding the "thanks for the fav" comments. As of now, though, only the ones from the front page that I've fav'd will be hidden. I won't reply to any that aren't already in my inbox as of 1:15 pm EST on October 26, 2009. :B
Sorry for any inconvenience. :(

Ah ^^ that's a pity that i could not use stamps and show thumbs anymore ._. if i could just found with one before, i'd liked to display it, cause i really agree with all this theory

:shakefish:

Also what i think is just that using the same circular old brief short annoying text line could be a simple hypocritical way to say... something. well, i also sometimes do this unnecessary act to thank for a fav that i receive, but i NEVER (i've learn to u.u) use the same way to say it. and when i really think it, i underline that a fav could be precious to increase my popularity or, if received by a skilled user in that section or arts, that i've been glad to have my art been considered nice by someone that makes awesome one. Yes, could be easily it, and i don't hide it. and also i don't have the need to show others that i read my notices on the inbox. That's OBVIOUS that i read them. and i'm not ill of popularity need ( i can't be that anyway, i just have max. 4 works nice, the other suck) and etc.

:shakefist:

And yes! when someone favs my work, i watch his\her\"its" () gallery at least! also when i found by myself a fav for my gallery...
As you see, i mostly agree with you
OH :D i'm gonna fav this work :iconawesome2plz: LOL
(actually, since i haven't chance to use stamps, i must :+fav: it to have a memory of it)
